Union Grounds Kenya Airways At Lagos Airport

The National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) on Thursday made good its threat to picket Kenya Airways (KQ).

The operations of the East African carrier were grounded at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos as members of the Union shut down its counters.

The union has been in a running battle with the carrier over the sacking of its Nigerian employees and replacing them with the General Sales Agent (GSA).

Kenya Airways has refused to reverse the decision despite the threat from the union prompting the airline to ground their flight between Lagos and Nairobi today.

Most of the Kenya Airways passengers were endorsed with RwandaAir, a sister carrier but the Union is threatening to extend the industrial action to the airline for rendering the relief service to the picketed airline.
